what we do for your child

“So many children have come to us over the years and each is totally unique. Every one of them goes through a different positive journey, the common denominator being Best.”

Annette Holland 2007

Firstly and foremostly, Best is about having fun.

And while they’re having fun they learn all sorts of useful skills that will help them throughout their lives…

Theatre is about communication – from conveying basic needs to being able to put across complex ideas, difficult concepts and real emotions. With Best your child will gradually develop a portfolio of techniques which will help them stand out from the crowd.

Theatre is about concentration – the ability to listen actively, to stay focused and to deliver what is needed when and where it is called on. The discipline to stay ‘on task’ and to give your energy and full attention to the matter at hand is a wonderful thing to learn early – especially for school life.

Theatre is about co-operation – working as a team. At Best your child will learn quickly how well things work when everyone is pulling together. At the youngest age this can simply mean learning to listen attentively to others. As they progress at Best the children learn how to co-operate fully, helping each other out, encouraging, praising and criticizing constructively – key skills in any walk of life!

Theatre is about imagination – freeing that most precious of childhood gifts and preserving it for future life. Finding ways to stimulate and fire new thought in oneself and in others. At Best they will learn how to inspire and to be inspired.

Theatre is about commitment – being the very best that you can be. Best lets them see just what can be achieved if they really go for it!

Theatre is about caring – for yourself and those around you. Developing sensitivity to the needs of oneself and of others and learning how to be a valuable colleague and a true friend.

Theatre is about confidence – emotional and physical. Learning that it’s fine to be nervous and how to use that energy positively. And physically co-ordination and posture improve, all adding to the emergence of an individual with poise, self-esteem and authority. During their time with Best we see our students blossom and we are told over and over again (and can see for ourselves) just what a difference being at Best has made.
